What is a "Celebrant" ?

Celebrants are officiants with the legal authority to conduct Weddings and Civil Unions, but we are much more than that.  Trained in the history and power of ritual, we work with our clients to design unique and personalized ceremonies that tell their story.  Blending the wishes of the couple, along with any desired customs, rituals, words and/or music, the Celebrant helps create a ceremony that is powerful and individualized.

Bill Cummings --- Celebrant

As a Civil Celebrant and interfaith Minister, I specialize in Personalized Weddings and Civil Union Ceremonies that reflect the personalities and story of the couple.  I make every effort to reduce your stress while together we sculpt the ceremony that celebrates this important transition in your life.

My Purpose as a Celebrant:

I believe in guiding my clients to a celebration that satisfies their needs and desires for their special day.  With a gentle yet focused approach, I will use your input to creatively establish the ceremony you desire.  I offer suggestions based on your input; you always make the final choice.  This is your ceremony and your day. Once you are satisfied with the script, I will officiate the ceremony, providing guidance as needed.

What My Service Includes

No Obligation Consultation:

Initially by phone, I get a rough sense of what the ceremony entails and we determine a time and location to meet.  At that meeting, we get to know one another a bit, and importantly, determine if my services are what you need and want.  This is where I establish the cost based on the complexity of the ceremony.  If we are all in agreement, a contract and deposit secure your date.

Composition of the Ceremony:
Via email, mail, and/or telephone, I present my first draft of the ceremony for your review.  I follow up by making your suggested changes and re-submit.  This process cycles as many times as needed  for you to be completely satisfied with the script, musical choices, choreography, etc.

To help establish a clearer picture of what the ceremony will look like in reality, I will direct folks through the anticipated script, usually the day before the ceremony.  Last minute changes are made. Remainder of payment is due.

The Ceremony:
I arrive in a timely manner and finalize details.  I officiate the ceremony, including any legal aspects (license etc.) .

A Keepsake Printed Version:
You are provided with the final printed copy of the ceremony on high quality paper (which you may choose) on the day of the ceremony.

A Safety Net:

I will contact another celebrant that will do the ceremony in the unlikely event of sudden illness or other emergency.  I will bring my own PA system—available if needed.  I will have a recorded copy of your musical selections as a back-up if there are unforeseen issues.  All my electronics have battery back-up.
